Dried Blood Collection Guide

Learn proper procedures for handling dried blood with our easy-to-follow guide. Discover step-by-step instructions, safety precautions, and effective techniques to ensure safe and efficient management of dried blood stains.

Step 1

Twist off the blue tab to break seal on lancet. Do NOT touch or depress white tip.

Step 2

Use the provided alcohol pad to clean the tip of the finger (3rd finger or 4th finger).

Step 3

Place the tip of the lancet against the side of the fingertip. The side facing the 5th finger.

Step 4

Press down firmly until an audible click is heard.

Step 5

Gently press the pricked finger from below the puncture site to allow for a large drop of blood to form.

Step 6

Wipe away the first drop of blood with the gauze.

Step 7

Hold finger downward to allow blood to drop onto circles.

Mobile Phlebotomist Blood Collection

OptiHealth provides a mobile phlebotomy service that allows patients to have various types of blood draws, urine samples, and COVID-19 swabs performed and/or collected from their own homes or places of employment. OptiHealth provides mobile phlebotomy for more complex tests; and in an effort to minimize errors and redraw rates by collecting the sample ourselves. But most of all, we aim to make this convenient for you.
